Resignation of Acting Chairman of Zephyros Village 2 Residents Association

Posted by: Admin In: Current Issues| General Notices

I have today 13/5/2010 decided to resign from my position on the ZV2RA, with immediate effect.

I have received several complaints from residents about the excessive noise made by barking dogs, and as a committee member was trying to resolve the problem. Yesterday I received, in front of my wife and neighbours, verbal abuse from a resident which I am not prepared to accept and therefore I am tendering my resignation.

I would like to thank all the people who nominated me for the committee and apologise to them for resigning, but I will no longer continue to give up my retirement time to protect the interests of people such as the above mentioned resident.

To all other persons who know me, enjoy your retirement as I intend to do.

Regards

Norman

It is with a great deal of regret with associated frustration that we hear of the resignation of Norman Stephenson from the Zephyros Village 2 Residents association. The committee have done an excellent job for the residents and owners of Zephyros Village 2 to date. Those efforts have rewarded us all with a more efficient and cost effectively run estate, and even repaid 100’s of Euros into our pockets. Well done again to everyone for that and thank you.

As a permanent local resident and a very hands-on practical person, Norman has been able to contribute hugely to the committee to date. He has a fantastic ability to retain facts and figures and is not afraid to speak his mind and quote the facts to those who need to be told. He is impartial and professional, acting in the interest of everyone on our estate. In that professional manner he often correctly refused to be drawn directly by residents about committee matters and referred everyone via the proper committee channels.

Norman has unfortunately been frequently disturbed since the committee was formed by direct approaches from residents with their complaints and requests for the committee. That situation was bad enough, but accepted in a controlled way by Norman. However, worse than that was the idea that anything done or not done, said or not said, was often interpreted by some (the minority) as having come directly from Norman himself. That concept is clearly ridiculous.

In the case of the disturbances from dogs we know that complaints had been received from many concerned residents over an extended period and this was an issue that many sort to have addressed. It seems that as a result of a general letter sent out by Aristo about the dog problem, Norman and Pat received an unwarranted attack of verbal abuse. This type of bullyboy tactic and antisocial behaviour from anyone is quite unacceptable. It is even more disgraceful that these actions should lead to the resignation of a valuable member of the committee

Letters that remind any of us of our duties of care to others and the general rules and regulations that come with the Zephyros estate, whether they be about dogs, pool use, noise, parking, litter, or anything else for that matter, will either come from Aristo, Artha Estates, or ‘the residents committee.’ They do not come from, and are not originated from Norman Stephenson.

We are sure that the unfortunate loss of this particular committee member under such unnecessary circumstances will be something that the rest of us will find is to our regret and cost.

We would like to wish Norman and Pat the best in their full retirement and hope that they can now be left in peace in all respects!

Jonathan & Maureen.
